Commitment to the environment isn’t just about campaigns; it’s about real action by sustainability advocates. Building on this spirit, Bank Sampah Teratai held a waste sorting activity with the community as a small but significant step towards a stronger recycling ecosystem. ALVAboard proudly participated in this movement with Kamibox, providing truly impactful support for the community.
As a contribution, ALVAboard donated 10 Ecobins for use during the sorting activity. These Ecobins help the community sort waste according to category, making the recycling process easier, cleaner, and more focused. For ALVAboard, this contribution is not just a donation, but a manifestation of the sustainability values that the company strives to uphold in every step of its activities.
In this activity, waste was sorted into several main categories. The categories collected include: clean PET bottles, dirty PET bottles, mixed plastic bottles, buckets, PE plastic, clear PP cups, colored PP cups, Mixed A/Boncos, dirty Boncos, and UBC/Tetra Pak such as milk cartons. In addition, the Teratai Waste Bank also separates cans, aluminum cans, bottle caps, gallon caps, and Yakult packaging as part of high-value recycled materials.
This sorting initiative not only helps reduce the volume of waste going to landfills, but also introduces the community to the concept of a circular economy: that properly sorted waste can become a new resource. Everyone involved can see firsthand how a simple act like separating bottle caps from bottles can make a real difference.
The collaboration between Bank Sampah Teratai, ALVAboard, and Kamibox is proof that sustainability works best when done together. With adequate sorting facilities and ongoing education, the community is increasingly helped to build environmentally friendly habits in their daily lives.
