In December 2022, Waitaru Village in Sumba once again experienced the pulse of change through the social program Misi Kami Peduli (MKP). For years, the village had lived with limited access to electricity, clean water, and learning facilities. The presence of the MKP team brought new hope, and ALVApipe played a vital role in that journey.
As part of this mission, MKP built a solar panel system and electricity network for 22 homes, and repaired public facilities such as toilets, a village hall, and a preschool. Stable energy finally brightened the nights for Waitaru residents, allowing families to carry out their activities without the constraints of darkness, while also providing better learning opportunities for the children.
One of the village’s most important needs is clean water. To that end, the MKP infrastructure team built a solar-powered water pump system complete with a reservoir and a 300-meter pipeline to channel water directly to the settlement. This is where ALVApipe plays a crucial role. Through the support of HDPE Water pipes, the flow of clean water to Waitaru is safer, more stable, and more durable. Flexible and rust-resistant HDPE pipes make the installation process more efficient even in challenging terrain, while ensuring water quality is maintained all the way to the distribution point in the village.
These efforts are reinforced by the MKP education team, which conducts outreach sessions on sanitation, hygiene, nutrition, and financial literacy for residents. They also visit nearby elementary schools, providing interactive, “Kidzania”-style learning sessions for students. Early childhood education (PAUD) and elementary school teachers also receive training to help them teach with greater confidence and inspiration.
ALVApipe’s support for the clean water delivery system is a crucial foundation for the program’s sustainability. When the right pipes are installed in the right places, clean water is no longer just a hope, but a reality enjoyed every day. Through collaboration with MKP, ALVApipe is strengthening small steps that have a big impact on the future of Waitaru Village.
